What do you buy the man or woman in your life who seems impossible to buy for or who always guesses what you bought? What is the one gift you can give they will never see coming?
A letter from Santa Claus.
An adult doesn’t expect to receive a letter from Santa Claus. Santa Claus is for children, right? Wrong! No matter how fervently an adult may claim to not believe in Santa, deep down inside is a spark of hope left over from childhood.
People need hope, praise, and words of encouragement especially during hard economic times. Santa Claus believes in every one of us. Receiving a letter from the man in the Great White North, a letter filled with cheerful encouragement and praise, helps that spark of hope to grow stronger. A letter from Santa Claus brings a smile to every face, young or old.
How do you write a letter from Santa Claus, though?
You are reading this article online so it is a safe bet to assume you have a computer and printer. You will need a computer and printer to create your Santa letter.
You will need quality paper as well as large decorative envelopes. You want to use the good heavy weight paper because Santa does not settle for cheap computer paper. The big man has class.
Office supply stores often have excellent computer stationary paper with envelopes. Use either a Christmas theme paper or, for an Old World look, parchment paper. You can pick up parchment paper at Wal Mart.
Try to use large colored envelopes, shiny and holiday themed if possible. You want to make your gift seem as magical as possible. Santa does not use plain white envelopes.
Next, unless you have elegant handwriting that is easily read, you will need a calligraphy font. There are many types offered online. Use one that prints clearly and is easy to read.
When you write the letter use personal information about the person in the letter. For example, in the greeting use his or her first name or nickname; ‘Dear Marianne’, ‘Dear J.B.’. Use personal information about the person in the letter. Mention accomplishments, hobbies, friends, or family.
Remember when you write the letter you are Santa Claus! You want to sound like Santa. Look at the example below to see what I mean. This is a portion of a letter written to a man.
“Dear Toby,
Ho! Ho! Ho! Goodness, it has been a long time since I delivered toys to little Toby. I hope you and your sister Melanie have been good since you graduated from my Naughty and Nice list. I am so proud to hear how successful you have become as a grownup! It gives me great joy when I hear how well my boys and girls are doing. And now I get to deliver toys to your little Chrissy and Toby junior!
Your children love you dearly, Toby, no matter how hard life gets and have asked me to bring something special for you on Christmas Eve.”
After you finish the letter do not fold it! Slide it into the envelope and then add some sparkly confetti (aka magical reindeer dust). Address it to the person the letter is meant for and then place the envelope into another larger envelope addressed to:
North Pole
Christmas Cancellation
Postmaster 5400 Mail Trail
Fairbanks, AK 99709-9999
Your letter will be given an authentic North Pole postage mark before mailed.
Be sure to mail the letter before the deadline of December 15th!
The man who received the example letter portion above wept as he read the entire letter. Life was treating him roughly, and he needed to hear from Santa. He later framed the letter and hung it on his wall.
A letter from Santa Claus is the gift of joy and magic and hope, and isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
