how hard is it to learn calligraphy?
i have a couple of quotes that i want to write and give to a friend but i haven’t the best handwriting so i was thinking of learning calligraphy. how long does it take and does anybody have somewhere i can learn it for free?
I learned for free. I bought the Schaeffer calligraphy set and a bunch of books on the subject. Then like all kids forgot about it and it set past the first day I played with it, It sat and sat , Then I had a break up with my boyfirend of 4 years, I locked myself away for 2 weeks and just practiced calligraphy. Then I met the love of my life, so away went the pens and books for another 3 years. Now flash forward, I was a hostess in a restaurant and I had switched pocket books, lo and behold on the bottom of the bag was that old calligraphy pen. It was a slow winter day so I just copied the specials of the day in calligraphy to amuse myself when the owner walked behind me. He loved it and from th at day on I had to do all of the signs for the restaurant and also three copies of the specials of the day for both Lunch and DInner everyday. Needless to say I got quite good. You can learn but not as fast as you are thinking .
P.S. The pens come with a little book that explains how to write the alphabet. It is kind of like when you were a kid and had to write “I will do my homework” 100 times for punishment. LOL. It takes practice , lots of it., One thing that you have to do is try to match up all the parallels of the letters and all letters fit inside all of the letters except m and w.
