what colours should i use in my painting?
okay well i’m doing a painting which is going to be auctioned off to raise funds for an organisation.. and i was looking for some opinions on colours that i can use..
i’m painting arabic calligraphy onto a canvas, and i don’t want it to be pretty simple yet still striking.. i want to use colours which will complement lots of different settings, so that it gives more people the option for bidding for it because it would obviously need to co ordinate with other things wherever they’ll be putting it if they do buy it..
i was thinking of doing shades of brown and beige, or just simple black,grey and white (a bit iffy about this one) but i’d really appreciate other opinions too.

Brown is a neutral, earth color.that connotes courage. That is, it goes well with about anything. Black or white with grey has the connotation of profound but lacking color.The colors have psychological connotations so it depends on what you are promoting .
Yellow and red are the LOUDEST colors of the spectrum, and the eye goes to these colors first. Purple is mystery or royalty or love.. Pink is softness, feminine or spirituality. Blue is restfulness or healing. Yellow is sunshine, health, cheerfulness. Red is warlike, exciting makes one think of emotion, passion. Orange is peace. Black is strength. Green is luck. Grey is sadness. I would limit it to two or three colors, I think. I hope this helps!
